Building a unique
brand language from
the ground up.

Zara is a brand known for its European flare and prudent mindset. Each piece of a collection must be elegant on its own, but also can be interchanged with ease for an effortlessly chic look. Inspired by this idea of practical interchangeability and stylishness, I chose to build a media plan template that makes use of layout and shape like a phoneme to the English language, or a stitch to a woven pattern - simple, interesting units that create a harmonious assemblage when paired together.

A challenge inherent in designing for a brand like Zara is that practical functionality doesn’t necessarily breed a large system for a designer to work within. Greyscale and scarce design elements defined most of Zara’s media presence from a graphic design standpoint, posing the question: how much is too much? I found the answer to this question through two principals: adhering to simple, almost strict functionality in my designs and layout, and allowing Zara’s stunning library of images to dominate on any page they occupied.
